When we bought our new (to us) boat, we made a promise to ourselves:
We were going to step up our maintenance game.

Buying a big, old boat, one we saw ourselves keeping for years, meant making a commitment to looking after her. Staying ahead of maintenance, to keep her safe and reliable, and learning to do more of the work ourselves to keep the cost of owning a bigger boat under control.
